The Raft Nebula, typically referred to as The Nebula, is one of many nebulas in the Raft Universe, and is the home of the Raft. It has an elliptic shape, and is approximately 5,000 miles wide. The nebula used to be a crisp blue color, but has turned a crimson red due to hydrogen depletion.
Like other nebulas in the Raft Universe, the Raft Nebula began as a cluster of hydrogen particles. Pockets of hydrogen would clump together into stars. These stars burn for around a thousand shifts (approximately 1 year) before they fall into the Core. A few stars enter stable orbits around the Core, allowing for star mines, such as the Belt, to be constructed. Heavier elements such as oxygen cluster around the Core, providing a breathable area for humans.
Trees are used to travel through the nebula, piloted by woodsmen.
The Core[]
The Core is an egg-shaped mass of material surrounding a black hole, measuring around 50 miles across. The black hole is roughly a hundredth of an inch in diameter, with an accretion disc approximately 100 ft wide. The gravity by the surface of the Core amounts to around several hundred G. When the Bridge visited the Core, they noticed the presence of red oceans, and were attacked by the Core Entity.
