Raft[]
The events of Raft take place in an alternate universe where the Gravitational Constant is billions of times stronger, in the region of 0.0667 rather than 0.0000000000667. Stars are only a mile across and burn out within a year, leaving "Star Kernals": balls of iron 50 yards wide, but with 5G gravity.
A starship called the "Constancy of Purpose" wandered into this universe by mistakenly falling into a portal, most likely Bolder's Ring. Here, the ship imploded on itself. Their descendants survived to this day. A period of eight hours is called a "shift", and a year is a thousand shifts. A breathable nebula encloses a region of stars and one black hole, and the nebula is home to whales, air-wolves, and floating trees.
There are three societies: The Raft is home to the elite of society, holding all high technology. The belt is a ramshackle ring orbiting a star kernal, home to miners. The Boneys are a nomadic band of cannibals, living within a small planetoid made entirely of corpses. Many are exiled to the Boneys as punishment, facing cannibalization.
Humans in the Raft Universe measure time in shifts; each shift is approximately 8 hours long.
